Deep in the desert
on a desert dune
Under the setting sun
and a rising moon
a snake slithers slyly
And ever so quiet
on a mid-summer’s day
far from a riot
It’s eyes glow green
and a hiss fills the air
in a place so serene
yet full of despair
it senses it’s pray
smothered in sun
but not for long
the day’s almost done
a ripple of sand
a rippling wave
a reaching hand
from heaven’s cave
Long gone the prey
long gone the day
long gone the Light
Hello, the Night
