Atomic Habits by James Clear

Atomic Habits by James Clear is a book about self-improvement and how one can change their daily habits. Clear’s approach to create good habits and break bad habits is that small changes in habits lead to greater results over time. He mentions how becoming 1% better everyday will cause you to end up 37 times better by the end of the year. Clear brings up stories about athletes and business leaders and how implementing small changes that become habits dramatically shifts their mindset. The book is filled with diagrams that help readers understand and immediately use these strategies into their everyday lives.

Opening Line: “On the final day of my sophomore year of high school, I was hit in the face with a baseball bat.”

Favorite Line: “The first step is not what or how, but who. You need to know who you want to be.”

Why I Like It: James Clear explains how to improve oneself very thoroughly and it’s easy to understand. It feels like the author is talking directly to you and uses a lot of real life examples to help build good habits and break bad ones.
