a prophet’s laughter in a city burning

they’ve taken her back
shut her up in their vaults again
the jewel that troy intended to mount upon its spoils of war
they’ve given us chaos
carved an unholy path of destruction
that sent the walls of this city tumbling down
they’ve violated hospitality
pilfered and looted their host’s home
while gods smiled at their merciless desecrations
they’ve delivered death
failed to properly scatter troy’s ashes
to ensure that its soul will never rest in peace
and i?
a wraith caught in euphoria
for i care not for the stone throwers
the sword wielders
the tongue taunters
that murdered me
long before the first greek sail rose with the wind
