The Ridge High School production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella has received recognition for the Paper Mill Playhouse’s Rising Star Awards, which are given to the best high school theatre productions in the state. The Paper Mill Playhouse is an internationally famous theater, being the site of the world premieres of several Broadway shows (including Newsies, The Great Gatsby: A New Musical, and A Bronx Tale). Ridge High School’s collective nominations include “Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical”, “Outstanding Performance by an Orchestra”, “Outstanding Production by a Chorus”, and “The Educational Impact Award”.
Anti Garcia received a nomination in the “Outstanding Performance in a Featured Role” for her role as “Charlotte”, being the only student individually nominated for an award. Staff Ridge nominees include, in alphabetical order, Colin Berry (“Outstanding Lighting Achievement”), Madelyn Curtin (“Outstanding Achievement in Musical Direction”) Tim Lynch (“Outstanding Achievement by a Teacher or Outside Director”), and Jason M. Stewart (“Outstanding Scenic Achievement”).
Bonnie Grube was named as an honorable mention in the “Outstanding Costume Achievement” category.
The Drama Club will perform at the award show on June 3rd. The Ridge community is incredibly proud of all of these nominations, and a special congratulations to individual nominee Anti Garcia!
