The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield

The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield

When you first pick up The Celestine Prophecy and read the blurb on the back, the book seems to be an in-depth philosophical discussion on a new way of living. In reality, the book is a fictional story about spiritual culture and personal growth; however, readers can still learn plenty of lessons on how to live life. In The Celestine Prophecy an unnamed narrator has an unexpected encounter with an old friend named Charlene who shares her findings of an ancient Peruvian manuscript, initiating the narrator’s thrilling journey to Peru. With each insight the narrators and readers discover within the manuscript, both advance toward the great societal change defined by the Celestine Prophecy.

Opening Line: “I drove up to the restaurant and parked, then leaned back in my seat to think for a moment”(Redfield 1).

Favorite Line: “All the interests that led you forward in your past, all these stages of growth, were just preparing you to be here, now, exploring the Insights”(Redfield 146).

Why I Like It: The book has changed my perspective on everyday moments —especially the coincidences which have no explanation— that happen in my life.
