Castles of Superiority Built on Air

Somehow, they all forgot

that they were blown around

in the dust of others,

ridden with desperation.

On the same sidewalks as

the pigeons that were found

scavenging the trails of others,

ridden with frustration.

First they lived vicariously through

those of polished professions,

then they speak patronizingly

to

those in their own

previous footsteps.

First came the children on the playground

that felt entitled to the first ride on the swing,

then came inexperienced shells of authority

that

quenched their thirst by

stepping on the pigeons.
