Harry Potter has been and is known for being one of the most popular franchises of all time. Created by JK Rowling, she started producing a series of books, then expanded to a multitude of films, video games, and stage productions incorporating the magical elements introduced in the books. The stories attract people of all ages and it continues to be introduced to the new generations. Now, Ridge High School’s Drama Club announces their fall play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (High School Edition). The drama club has exciting stunts, special effects, and a heartwarming story planned to present to Basking Ridge. But not everybody knows what this Harry Potter story has to offer and many ask; What is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child?
The play takes place 19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts (shown in the final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2) in London, where Howarts seems to be admitting new students. Many of the original cast of characters from the franchise, such as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, and Draco Malfoy, are reintroduced older and with their children. The plot follows Albus Potter, the middle son of Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley, as he struggles his way through Hogwarts. He and many other children of the “Hogwarts legends” face immense pressure of legacy regarding family and accomplishments. At the same time, the parents struggle to meet their children eye to eye and accept them as who they are. Mr. Lynch, the director of the drama club, says that the show carries a huge theme of acceptance and how the journey to it is important to carry while seeing the show.
