Don’t Get Too Comfortable

Don’t get too comfortable.
Even when he murmurs I love you
In his sleep
And when your head seems to fit perfectly in the space under his chin

Whenever a gush of wind that kisses your ear feels like his lips
And every whisper in the night sounds like his name
Do not forget that he still sees every exit sign on the outstretched road
The door of possibilities is still open your him,
Although yours closed the moment you met.

Do not overlook you are not his first
Not his first hello
Not his first goodbye.
