Darkness Dancing Down

Darkness Dancing Down
Follow the beaten road
Where flickering street lights line the way
There you will find none who dare be around
With rain pouring and darkness dancing down
On the other side of the wooden doors nature cries
Darkness holds every corner hostage under the clouds
Shielded by the storm we sit on old barstools
Cradling drinks in our warm hands
The bar is unusually quiet on this rainy night
With soft murmurs moving through our ears
Overhead an old song singing about the road to Athy
As voices fade in and out in the yellow glow
Paying for our drinks we leave the bar
Leaving the harsh warmth for comforting cold
Out into the freezing rain and chilling wind
Our joyful laughter swaying in the night
Thunder booms along with our pounding hearts
Bright lighting matches the same light as our spark
The rain washes off unsaid sins and dried blood from our scars
Following the same rhythm we hold different cards
We stand in the middle of the unforgiving storm
Letting the rain hit our shoulders and more
Wet hair sticking to our foreheads making it hard to see
Not feeling the pain of our bare feet torn by old concrete
Screams like thunder in the sky
Voices like lightning through the night
Tears like rain running down rooftops
We are children of the storm
Follow the beaten road
Where flickering street lights line the way
There you will find two who dare be around
With rain pouring and darkness dancing down
